I recently found out my coworker allows a registered sex offender to live in her home with her 13 year old daughter. The charge was for sexual assault on a child. Not only does he live with them but he is her exboyfriend. She knows he was charged and convicted but swears he is innocent and got railroaded. When I first met the guy I had a bad feeling about him and now I found out about the charge On top of that, she has another man living with her, in his 20s and at a recent party her 13 year old was sitting on his lap and being a little too affectionate towards him, and he reciprocated.
Now I am just disturbed by all this. I have a 13 year old daughter too and can't get over this. She thinks nothing is wrong. And her daughter is not in danger. I normally stay out of peoples business, but the fact she has a child in all this bothers me. Is it illegal to let a sex offender live with a child?
Where I live it's against the law for a sex offender to be anywhere near children. I don't know why someone would even let a sex offender around there children: S Although my DH has a friend who is a registered sex offender because he snapped a girls bra strap in school when they were of school age. He's never around the kids but I'd let him around them!
I SirenMommi Does he have a parole officer to call? T TattooedMommy89 MayMommy I have a friend who is also a registered sex offender but it's because he sent a moon shot to his friend and the guys mom flipped out and had him arrested.
S SirenMommi Iwasfunonce I dont know. According to the info online, he was 33 at the time of the sexual assault on a child. So this isn't a case of an 18 year old with their 16 year old girlfriend and parents get him for statutory rape.
One of my friends is on the list for that, but this isn't the case. I however do NOT know the exact circumstances. If he's a sex offender then he is not allowed to be around children. She was told to call the State police. You need to do the same. Just be prepared to eat humble pie if it turns out that this guy's offence was something really minor. As pp said, it's way too easy to get on that list. Don't they have to register where they live? If so, I would imagine the question would be asked if they are living with a child.
Do they loose the legal right to have children? Does it matter what offense put them on the sex offender registry? What if they end up becoming a step-parent? I would not be allowing my daughter to go spend time at the house. If it was her friend then the friend could hang out at our house.
Laura X XxCajunQueenxX SirenMommi It must be a big deal because my custody orders say my ex has to give 60 days notice to me if planning to move in with or marry a sex offender. If he doesn't it's a misdemeanor. C CurlyJessie SirenMommi I believe that if they are a registered offender, they aren't allowed to live within a certain distance of schools or daycares.
I also think that they aren't supposed to be w kids unsupervised. Call your local pd and get advice on what to do. The last time I pushed my suspicion of abuse away was 10 years ago. Neighbors toddler would have some bruising and scratches, they told me she was clumsy, and when I babysat her, she was so I passed it off.
Xmas morning her dad called and said she fell from her crib. Turned out he had shaken her so violently she became a vegetable for 3 years before she died. Wish I called and every Xmas I think of her. I rather find out I was wrong about this guy than right and her 13 year old is being abused.
S SirenMommi mamax4va Depends on the circumstances. Its not illegal for them to have kids but they can lose custody of them it the judge or cps deems them in danger a I would call the Police and find out. Better safe than sorry. S anycolouryoulike I'm reported it to CPS anonymously today. I reported me god daughters parents to CP after taking her to my GP about warts in the crack if her butt 14mths was told to get her straight to the hospital for treatment for STD.
M Mumof6 That's horrible Mumof6! I hope everything turned out ok.
